How Use of a Home Infrared Sauna Can Improve Your Athletic Performance

Posted by

Athletes, whether at a high school, college, or professional level, are  continually looking for an edge. They must strive to be in better shape than their opponents with superior resourcefulness and drive. That comes  from being in the best possible condition, and one way that athletes can thrive is with a home infrared sauna.

Why a Home Infrared Sauna?

What is it about home infrared saunas that gives athletes a leg up on their competition? To understand that, you must first comprehend what athletics takes out of the human body. When you compete aggressively at a high level, and when you push yourself to excel, it puts a strain on everything. That includes your immune system, joints, and muscles.

The pattern with athletes is to  train obsessively,  for a race or   game,  and then have  only a brief recovery period before starting  the process over.  Because they have limited downtime,  anything they can do to get their bodies right again is  of interest.

This is why when it was revealed that  home sauna use could increase flexibility, many athletes took note, from track stars to boxers, and from gymnasts to skiers. Any athlete that taxes their muscles to their limits wants to be as flexible as they can so that they can avoid injury, and by purchasing the best infrared sauna they can allow that to happen.

Increased Flow of Blood and Oxygen

To be the best, athletes must also be sure that blood and oxygen are flowing through their bodies at maximum efficiency. Use of a home infrared sauna will allow that to happen.  It is no coincidence that when an athlete uses a home sauna regularly, they show increases in endurance.  This is because when the blood is adequately oxygenated, it allows us to perform feats of strength, ability, and stamina that would not be possible  otherwise.

Reduced Soreness

Soreness after training and competition is part of daily life for an athlete.  It may not be pleasant, but it goes hand in hand with  the lifestyle. Anything that reduces soreness  is welcome, and that’s why many sports stars look for a home sauna for sale.

The infrared rays from a sauna deeply penetrate the skin and get rid of  soreness much faster than other traditional methods.  This is because the rays from a far infrared sauna are the same as those produced by our life-giving sun. We need these  rays to survive, but with a home infrared sauna, an athlete can get their full benefits without running the risk of sunburn or skin cancer that accompanies sunbathing.  An infrared sauna provides the best of the sun’s rays by producing them  artificially.

Recovery from Injury

However, often injuries occur that go beyond mere soreness, which is  another unfortunate part of being an athlete. Strains, sprains, dislocations, and even broken bones can sideline an athlete for months.  While it is imperative that athletes take the proper amount of time to recover from these occurrences, that time is sped up through the use of an infrared sauna.

If you have a sprained ankle, for instance, and you spend 30-40 minutes in the sauna every day subjecting that ankle to treatment, it will recover faster than if you go with the traditional method of icing it, putting heat wraps on it, and elevating it as often as you can.

All of those are still recommended treatment options, but when you do all of those things accompanied by sauna time, you’re going to be back on your feet a lot faster. It’s no wonder that individuals who are going to go pro in their preferred sport start looking for a sauna for sale when they sign their first big contract.

No More Stress

There is yet another way that home infrared sauna use is great for athletes, though. In addition to the physical, there is mental stress that is taxing to an athlete.

Say that you just signed a large contract, and you’re going to be an integral part of your team going forward, whether you play baseball, basketball, hockey, or something else. You’re putting pressure on yourself to get the job done, and you know that your coach and your team are also counting on you, not to mention the rabid fans who attend your games.

That pressure can help you to thrive, but it also takes a toll on you mentally. You can’t help but want to compete at the highest level, so you don’t let all those people down, and yourself as well. Now let’s say that you miss a crucial penalty kick, strike out in a critical situation, or miss a last-second field goal that would have won the game. You need to achieve a zen state to try and forget about what happened so you can show up for the next game with increased confidence.

A home sauna can let you do that, and a far infrared sauna is much better than a traditional steam sauna in that regard. A steam sauna won’t allow you to get those infrared rays that are so beneficial to you, and they take up too much room as well.

You can return to your house or apartment, have a seat in your far infrared sauna, and you can relax for 30 to 40 minutes. By the time you’re done, you will be ready to put the day’s game behind you, and you’ll look at the next one with renewed focus.

The best infrared sauna for you is the one that you can afford and that fits somewhere nicely in your home. The more you utilize it, the more you will wonder how you got through your athletic career up to this point without one.

Even if you don’t end up getting one for your home, at the very least, you should see if your team is willing to get one for you to use at their training facility. If you’re their star athlete then they need to keep you happy, so they should be willing to make this concession for you.
