Steps To Take For Healthy Sauna Detox

Step 1: Stay Hydrated

When you are planning to use your infrared sauna, make sure you increase the amount of water you drink. Although an infrared sauna isn’t as harsh as a traditional sauna, you are still going to break a sweat. The sweat your body produces is 80 to 85% water, so it’s important that before, during and after your sauna detox session you drink lots of water to stay hydrated.

Step 2: Establish A Time Limit

How long you stay in your sauna for a detox session will depend on your tolerance and everyday activity level. When you begin your infrared sauna session, start off with 10-15 minute sessions so your body gets accustomed to infrared therapy. Slowly increase the duration to 40 minutes at the optimal temperature range. Be aware of what your body is telling you and how your body is handling excessive detoxification. If you start to feel symptoms such as nausea, fatigue or flu-like symptoms during your sauna session, end your sauna session for the day.

Step 3: Set A Comfortable Temperature

Preheat sauna and start your session when your sauna warms up to 110°F. The optimal infrared sauna temperature is at 110°F to 130°F.

Step 4: Towel Down

Once you have completed your detoxification session, just dry off with a towel. It’s better to cool off the body naturally as this will continue burning calories. While you are doing that, make sure to gulp down another glass of cool and refreshing water.
