You Need to Know How to Identify the Best Sauna

Posted by

The best sauna is the one that has certain immediately identifiable features. In this article, we’ll examine what you should and shouldn’t see when you look at your sauna.

Number and Placement of Carbon Panels

You always want to see carbon panels in your far infrared sauna rather than the cheaper ceramic ones. To get the full dry sauna benefits you should have as many carbon panels as possible to ensure that you get a dose of radiant heat every time you sit down for a session. You’ll want to see heaters on the back panel, on either side of the door, in front of you, and under the seat.

More heat elements also means that the sauna will get warm faster, so a sauna with fewer panels probably isn’t the best choice. More panels mean that you start to sweat more quickly so that you get to the toxin elimination and skin cleansing in less time than would otherwise be the case. Most saunas will list the total square inches of heater coverage in their descriptions. The higher those numbers, the better your sauna is going to be.

If possible, it’s ideal to can get a wall-to-wall heating system l since that almost guarantees completely enveloping heat for you. There will be no spots that are either overly hot or cold. Instead, the temperature will be uniform throughout the entire unit.

You Want Control Panels Both Inside and Outside

This is an aspect of home saunas that is too often neglected. You want one where you can easily control the temperature and other aspects of the sauna at all times. You want to be able to turn the lights on and off, crank the heat up or turn it down as needed, and there are also timed settings if you want to know how long you’ve been in there. It's nice if you can do all those things both from outside the sauna and also when you’re sitting comfortably inside.

Also, look for more than location. You should be able to reach the panel easily, but you also want to be able to understand how to use its different functions. That means a digital readout should be intuitive, and if there are things like color/light therapy systems, then they should be simple to control as well.

Size Matters When It Comes to Your Sauna

The best sauna for you might be a corner unit that can easily go in a den, a living room, or elsewhere in the house. However, there are several different styles and sizes of sauna on the market, and not all of them will be the best for every person or home setup.

See how much space you have available to you and check whether the sauna that you have in mind matches. If it doesn’t, then see if there are other models available from that company or if you need to look at a different manufacturer altogether. You might have fallen in love with a particular model, but it’s not going to do you much good if you don’t have space for it.

Also, just because a sauna is very compact does not always make it the best choice. It’s nice when you get a model that fits snugly in a corner of the room, but if you feel crammed when you use it, then you’re not going to find it very relaxing. You might choose to opt for a slightly larger one if it gives you more room to stretch out.

Do You Need Interior Lights?

Some home far infrared saunas come with interior lighting, though that’s not always the case. You might feel like that’s important to you, or you might not have strong feelings about it one way or another.

It will likely matter more to you if you plan on reading when you are in your sauna sessions. Some people like nothing better than to bring a book in there with them to enjoy for half an hour. There are also saunas that feature colored light shows or ambient colored lighting that is good for people who have Seasonal Affective Disorder, also known as SAD. Many doctors feel that light and heat therapy combined are the best way to beat the seasonal blues. If that’s one of the reasons you’re getting a home sauna, make sure those features are available for you.

What About Other Entertainment Options?

Some people feel that their sauna time is best spent in quiet thought or meditation. That doesn’t have to be the case for you, though. You can get a sauna with speakers to pipe in music if you want, or there are even some that offer visual stimulation like DVD players.

It might seem a little unconventional to watch one of your favorite shows while you’re in the sauna, but the choice is yours. Don’t forget that you’re buying a sauna for your benefit. You should not have to conform to anyone else’s rules and expectations for use.

Do the Research and Take Your Time

The chances that you’ll find the right home sauna increase the more research you do in advance. By the time you’ve narrowed the choices to a few possibilities, you should know what you want most from your sauna, and the companies that offer it.

It’s probable that you’ll keep running into the same names in the industry when it comes to high quality and customer satisfaction rates. The best companies always get to the top of any industry, and that is true of home saunas just as with anything else. Once a new sauna is installed in your home, you should be able to enjoy it for many peaceful years. The changes in your life should be positive ones, and they should be noticeable very quickly.
