Not only can infrared therapy help the body physically, but can be very beneficial mentally. Another study conducted on 18-to-65-year-old men and women, who had a major depressive disorder, found that day-to-day exposure to infrared light provided anti-depressant effects.

The most commonly known health benefit of infrared saunas is detoxification. Research has shown that sweating is very helpful when it comes to eliminating toxins from the human body.

Can You Lose Weight In An Infrared Sauna?

Many studies have a firm connection between infrared saunas and weight loss. Some researchers have gone as far as to say that an infrared sauna can decrease waist circumference and reduce body fat. The reason for the weight loss is that the core body temperature increases by about three degrees in a sauna, the body has to work to cool down. Therefore, the heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate increases and burns calories.

Are Infrared Saunas Unhealthy For You?

Scientific research reports very few dangers associated with infrared saunas. Most complaints were very minor, such as moderate heat discomfort.
